Community Ukulele Jam

Four ukuleles in different colors—black, red, yellow, and carbon fiber pattern—are shown standing upright in a row.

Join the Prairie Strummers of Sun Prairie and WaunaStrummers of Waunakee for an open-community ukulele strum and sing-along to celebrate Make Music Sun Prairie. All are welcome! Email info@prairiemusic.org for a playlist. Please bring a lawn chair and music stand, and have your ukulele tuned and ready to play.

In addition to the Ukulele Strum & Sing-a-long, Make Music Sun Prairie events occur throughout Sun Prairie from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and are free and open to everyone to enjoy. Go to https://www.makemusicday.org/sunprairie/ for an up-to-date listing of activities. Make Music Sun Prairie is hosted by Prairie Music & Arts and is funded in part through the generosity of the City of Sun Prairie, Sun Prairie Tourism Commission, and Sun Prairie Downtown Business Improvement District.

The Prairie Strummers of Sun Prairie and the WaunaStrummers of Waunakee are ukulele enthusiasts who gather for weekly strumalongs to sing and play their instruments. The two clubs combined have over 200 members on their mailing lists and usually have between 30 and 50 strummers attending the weekly strums: Monday afternoon in Sun Prairie and Friday afternoon in Waunakee. Many strummers are members of both. They share their talents and the joy of music with many different venues, from Salvation Army Bell Ringing to assisted living facilities, Friday night fish fries, holiday parties, and various community activities, such as the Strawberry Fest. Many members are retirees who have only started playing ukulele in the last few years. Classes for beginning ukulele players are offered throughout each year.
